Our journey to fostering with Cedarcrest began with a request from our 10-year-old daughter to “help some kittens when our old dog (17-years-old) passed away.” We said “sure, we can give that a try,” never knowing how fast we would fall into the foster life. In the past 15 months, we have given a loving, temporary home to 89 kittens (well, 84 kittens and 5 mama cats). We have had stories of great trial like the mama and newborn attacked by a hawk who both lived to tell the tale. We have had stories of tragedy, like the young mom cat who gave birth to three litters before she turned 2, a kitten mill-turned-wrong, where she almost lost her life to a massive uterine infection that took the lives of 3/4 of her beautiful kittens. We have had tales of immense joy, our tiny survivors who grow up to be hilarious, permanent members of the family. Each day is equal parts fun and hard work. It takes a lot of money to support these babes. Help us help them!

We are a network of volunteer who open our hearts and homes to care for and nurture the young, abandoned, sick, orphaned, and vulnerable kittens in our community. We specialize in mommas/babies, young kittens, sick kittens, and bottle baby kittens.
