Assateague Coastal Trust, Inc, incorporated in 1970 has been engaging the community about the environment through informative lectures, trash clean-ups, nature exploration and other hands-on opportunities. As a member of the global Waterkeeper Alliance movement, ACT hosts the Assateague COASTKEEPER license, working to assure our communities have access to swimmable, fishable and drinkable water. The Assateague COASTKEEPER, is an on-the-water advocate who patrols and protects the Maryland and Northern Virginia Eastern Shore coastal bays, standing up to polluters, and granting everyone's right to clean water. Our Assateague COASTKEEPER is the voice for our local waterways, holding polluters accountable and working for clean water, clean air and healthy communities for the benefit of the public. Our Coast Kids program, celebrating 20 Years, educates our youth and their families through hands on outdoor experiences in how to care for our coastal bays, creating the next generation of environmental stewards. Whether ACT is on the water tracking down polluters, in courtrooms enforcing environmental laws, advocating in town meetings or teaching in classrooms, ACT speaks for the waters it defends - with the collective strength of our local community partners.
