Our site will bring the history of the Buffalo Soldiers alive for the first time at a living history site east of the Mississippi. The Outpost will be a major tourist attraction for the Eastern Shore of Maryland and more broadly the entire mid-Atlantic region. The site is located on property that was purchased by and lived on by a Buffalo Soldier who was born and raised in Wicomico County. Programming will include presentations, demonstrations, lecture series, etc. that will engage visitors and increase the knowledge of the community's culture and heritage. Additionally, collections in the form of authentic artifacts and replicas from the late 1800s onward will help to interpret historical facts.
