Junior Board at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional

About this Organization

In 1924, a group of ten prominent Salisbury ladies met at the request of Helen Wise with the mission to improve health care for women and children living in the rural community of Wicomico County, Maryland. Within seven days, the membership grew to 47 and $778 was raised in donations. Junior Board's first donation of $500 purchased a new Ford Coupe so that the nurse would have adequate transportation to go out into the community. From that point forward, Junior Board has contributed to EVERY capital campaign at the local hospital. Our volunteers of the Junior Board can be seen throughout the hospital system. They are found in the Junior Board Shop which is run entirely by volunteers by providing gifts and necessary products to those within the hospital walls. The shop also collects donations for Brooke's Toy Closet which is both Nanticoke and Peninsula Regional Emergency Departments. While not only running the JB Café, volunteers help staff with lunch orders throughout the day. Volunteers provide support at both Ocean Pines and Peninsula Regional Oncology centers. Volunteers can seen throughout the year attending and hosting different community events. If volunteers cannot join us within the hospital walls, they knit and crochet hats and blankets for newborns; and sew polar fleece comfort hats for chemo and transitional care patients. The money that is raised by volunteers goes directly back to the endeavors of the TidalHealth Community and the TidalHealth Foundation.
