Lower Shore Land Trust

About this Organization

The cypress swamps, barrier islands, tidal creeks and rivers, small towns, and rural landscapes are home to an ever growing population and these very assets are at risk of fragmentation, degradation and diminishing returns. The voluntary land protection programs administered by the Lower Shore Land Trust target the most vulnerable lands and those with the highest conservation value. Now in its 34th year, LSLT has helped preserve more than 24,000 acres of land on the Lower Eastern Shore. The Lower Shore Land Trust manages a robust volunteer land steward program to provide ongoing stewardship to conserved lands and to educate communities about the importance of maintaining healthy landscapes for rural economies, for wildlife habitat and for clean water. Community engagement programs such as our pollinator certification program encourage best practices across large landscapes and in residential backyards. The Lower Shore Land Trust exists to make sure that the region is an ecologically and socially vibrant place - forever.
