About this Organization

Lead4Life, Inc. (L4L) was founded in 2008 in an effort to reduce the number of youth entering the juvenile justice system, the number of out-of-home placements, and the youth recidivism rate. L4L's programs are developed utilizing restorative practices, strength-based and Positive Youth Development models. These programs help youth and their families address negative behaviors that all too often result in involvement with our criminal justice system. L4L staff, mentors, and volunteers work together to empower individuals to develop positive life, social and competency skills, enabling them to become productive community members. Services such as alternative to detention programs, diversion, and grassroots mentoring are provided both in the community and in youth detention facilities. L4L also provides mental health and wellness services. Individual and/or Family therapy (IFT) services are provided in the local office or in the home setting. We accept Maryland Medical Assistance, Tricare, and offer a sliding fee scale. Under the IFT umbrella we provide Anger Management therapy in a group or individual context. The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) which is also home-based, helps adults and youth in our local community. Instead of being detained, the Evening Report Center (ERC) provides DJS court mandated youth with an uplifting and impactful alternative to detention programs. The ERC reduces the number of youth and young adults detained in Montgomery and Wicomico County by offering lessons on accountability-so that participants can understand the impact of their actions, teaching the repercussions of negative behavior, and ensuring hope and positive thinking. Navigation Services is a program that is designed to help youth and families who are at risk of homelessness, facing housing instability, or families who have been affected by incarceration. This program is intended to break the barriers that are contributing to housing instability, whether it is for educational purposes, unemployment, or family difficulties. This program is funded through the Wicomico Partnership for Families and Children, the Local Management Board for Wicomico County, and the Maryland Governor's Office of Crime Prevention: Youth and Victims.
