Wyatt's Story Wyatt was born via planned C-section at 40 weeks on July 8, 2015, all of my prenatal care suggested I would be giving birth to a healthy baby boy. However, upon his arrival the doctors knew quickly that something was not right. Wyatt was diagnosed with TGA, Transposition of the Greater Arteries. He was then sent to Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C. To say this was a shock to all of us, would be an understatement. However, we couldn't have asked to be sent to a better hospital, or for more caring doctors and nurses. Although, they were unable to keep my boy here, they worked day and night to give him the best chance and the best care. It was evident they truly loved my boy and for that I will be eternally grateful. Wyatt underwent open heart surgery on July 22nd, and unfortunately there were complications. In the end his heart was fixed, but those complications caused an infection, and he went home peacefully. It simply was not in God's plan for Wyatt to stay here past August 21, 2015. I couldn't be more proud to be his Mom, or more thankful that God chose me, and allowed me those weeks with my precious boy. Losing him is something I'll never fully understand, but I want to use my grief and knowledge of the process to help other families. This foundation was established to be able to help families that must start the same path we did. We hope to be able to provide some of what they need to make the journey a little easier. Our hope is to also help with CHD education. It simply is not researched or funded enough.
