Friends of Assateague State Park

About this Organization

Assateague State Park is a favorite destination for many on the Eastern Shore. Friends of Assateague State Park is a nonprofit that assists with and funds many of the programs at Assateague State Park that enhance the visitor's experience. FOASP has no paid staff and 100% of donations go back into ASP. Upon request FOASP provides people with the opportunity to have their donation go to a specific area of the park. Our programs include a Bike Helmet Safety Program, Beach Wheelchairs, support for Camp Hosts, Nature Center and Environmental programs, Break the Habit education and resources for camping with wild horses, support for the Aviary and animal ambassadors, small lending libraries and beach boxes with toys to lend. You can get more information for each activity listed by clicking "Programs" on this page. FOASP currently has 140 dues paying members. We sponsor a park Spring Cleanup each April and other park events throughout the year. Three organizational meetings are held each summer: one per month in June, July and August. If you visit Assateague State Park, look for information about us in the Ranger Station and Concession Building, as well as on the bathhouse bulletin boards.
