About this Organization

The Crisfield Heritage Foundation (CHF) is a leading institution in the development of the heritage tourist industry in the City of Crisfield and the surrounding areas. CHF's primary focus is interpreting the rich heritage and culture of the region. Through research, publications, exhibits, workshops, and educational programs, the foundation contributes in a significant way to the economy of the area and to the preservation of its heritage and traditions. One of CHF's sites is the J. Millard Tawes Museum which is located at Somers Cove Marina. The museum is filled with exhibits interpreting the natural and human history of the Crisfield area. A working crab shanty is located outside for visitors to enjoy. Additional CHF sites include the original Ward Brothers Workshop ,where the famous decoy carvers created their art, the Cedar Island Marsh Sanctuary, and the Crisfield Customs House.
