Jesse Klump Memorial Fund, Inc.

About this Organization

Created after the suicide of 17-year-old Jesse Klump in 2009, the JKMF has grown to be the leading grassroots suicide prevention nonprofit on the lower Eastern Shore. By taking advantage of every opportunity to meet those who face mental health challenges and suicidality the Jesse Klump Suicide Awareness & Prevention Program confronts the stigma surrounding mental health care and suicide. We offer programs to children and teens in school and adults in the community which focus on promoting kindness, awareness and self-care using creative lessons. Our trained staff supports families who have lost a loved one to suicide to navigate the complicated and difficult process of grief, while also showing them that they are not alone. Additionally, we host monthly meetings for those who are grieving. All our suicide prevention programs are free to the community. We offer two scholarships for students in the "Masters of Social Work"-program at Salisbury University, and also fund mental health professionals post-graduate training.
