American Red Cross serving Delmarva

About this Organization

The American Red Cross responds to emergencies large and small. From a home fire to a devastating hurricane; from a military member or veteran in need to a cancer patient in a local hospital, the American Red Cross is there, providing disaster relief, casework services, blood products, preparedness and safety trainings, installing smoke alarms, and so much more, using a workforce comprised of 90 volunteers for every paid staff member! We respond to an emergency every 8 minutes. No one else does this: not the government, not other charities. From small house fires to multi-state natural disasters, the American Red Cross goes wherever we're needed, so people can have clean water, safe shelter and hot meals when they need them most. In Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties alone, the American Red Cross assisted 108 families (approximately 290 individuals) last year in the wake of home fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other disasters. We have provided a little over $74,000 in financial assistance to these residents. Additionally, we trained more than 1,270 residents in CPR, First Aid, and other life-saving skills and provided more than 181 case services to military members, veterans, and their families.
