The Worcester County Arts Council is a non-profit organization that serves over 100,000 people a year by providing financial support through the Community Arts Development Grant Program for art projects and cultural events, Arts in Education program for students in local schools, summer Arts Camp for children in elementary schools, awarding art scholarships for deserving Worcester County students, supporting local artists by featuring their work on gallery exhibits, hosting Paint Worcester County Plein air event, and other co-sponsored special events each year. The Council strives to lead the way in support of the arts with programs designed to encourage involvement in the arts by everyone in the community. We bring the arts to under-served areas of the community with its wealth of free, high-quality art exhibits, cultural activities, and art performances designed for children and adults alike. The Arts Council provides financial support to organizations to promote new venues and encourage community development through the arts. Each year, the Arts Council awards close to $50,000 in sub-grants and $10,000 in scholarships to applicants. The Arts Council's Artists Gallery is open to the public year-round and provides opportunities for local artists to create, exhibit, and sell their artwork. The Council also presents free programs and exhibits throughout the year to the community and offers various programs to schools and workshops whenever possible. These programs are prime examples of our strong involvement in business, cultural, and educational projects for our community. As designated by the Maryland State Arts Council County arts agency, the Worcester County Arts Council is committed to fostering the excellence, diversity, and vitality of arts, artists, and arts organizations and increasing access to the arts for all members of our community.
